Conference weekend

I am happy to say that we have been pretty busy the last few weeks.  Today was General Conference and transfers.  Because we are so far from the Mission Headquarters, the missionaries from this zone leave Sunday night for transfers Monday morning. We have 14 missionaries in this zone; every companionship has a change this transfer.  That makes for lots of goodbyes.

We have had a couple of special experiences.  We are still reading with Eddie.  We are in 4 Nephi.  Eddie now says the prayer after our Book of Mormon reading regularly.  He is a sweet, humble man. It will be strange not to call him every night and hear his happy voice.

We had the opportunity to teach the Plan of Salvation to (Angel) the caregiver of one of the homebound sisters that we visit every Friday.  The next week we showed Angel a video about why we needed the Restoration.  I think she is interested.  I hope we can get into her home to teach.
We are also teaching the temple preparation lessons to a sister who had let her recommend lapse.  She has started coming back to church after about 10 years, and paying her tithing.  We are excited to go to the temple with her.

We are also fellowshipping the wife of one of our faithful members.  She is still hesitant, but I hope she will soon be able to accept Jesus as her savior. She was raised Jewish. We love spending time with this family.

A couple of weeks ago, Elder Wecker and I were out and we saw hawks circling around looking for dinner.  We should have stopped earlier to get a video, but we did get this short shot.
All of the young missionaries want to serve in the Eureka area.  It is beautiful here.  The Redwoods and the ocean can't be beat.  The members are humble and helpful.  I am glad we were allowed to come here. The Eureka Zone led the mission in teaching and baptizing for the last 6-month period.  We have great missionaries.
